supernatural as a piece of media consistently amazes me. you’ve got the rock music and the leather jackets and the classic car. you’ve got the americana. you’ve got the spooky stuff. you’ve got the wildly complicated relationship with masculinity. and then four seasons in you add angels and demons and God and Satan. and now there’s motifs of religion and hell and guilt and loving someone in the face of everything you’re supposed to be. based on every single thing about it there is NO WAY this show could ever manage to be uncompelling to me. however it was made by straight men
I have been on this web site for more than a decade I have seen women and gays make the most gorgeous fascinating art and fiction and gifsets that are in theory based off Supernatural and then you go to watch the show and it periodically sneezes in the direction of the coolest plotline you could ever imagine and then just wanders off into the muck again. it’s like having a friend who’s gorgeous and smart and funny and then you meet her boyfriend and he is a worm

i think dean adds the word angel to every thing castiel does like he is in the backseat of the impala, eyes closed minding his own business and dean looks at him through the rearview mirror and goes “he is taking an angel nap” and cas opens his eyes just so he can roll them at dean and like castiel hugs him and is an angel hug, he prepares dean a sandwich and is an angel sandwich and cas gives him a kiss and dean touches his face like “gotta love me some angel cheek kisses”

When I say “X character deserved better” what I really mean is “all the people that loved this character and rooted for them and invested themselves in their story and saw themselves in this character’s struggles and trauma deserved better.”
i’m sorry i just imagined that what if they actually had his first solo case in an episode i’m sorry i can’t stop picturing dylan everett as the 17yo dean with shaky hands holding the matches and it’s january it’s cold without the ghostly presence and it’s the flashback in an episode where they have to visit the same church because there’s a haunting and they find out that he fucked up and didn’t get rid of both ghosts so one of the nuns had to suffer on earth waiting to be reunited with her love and they do the job of course they do the job and then sam doesn’t even ask dean if everything’s alright bc he knows it’s not he knows john as a hunter aim pointed at the monster always always always they go back to the bunker and cas asks if everything is alright bc he knows it’s not and sam shakes his head and dean gets a drink for a hunt well done thanks dad

the moment they end up with children Dean starts making dilf jokes. Cas doesn’t know wtf he’s talking about but he kind of puts up with it because of the way Dean smiles when he says it. He finally asks Dean what it means when they’re all in the kitchen one morning, and after an incredibly uncomfortable explanation Cas grins and tells him “ah. I guess that would make you a dilf, as well,” and that’s the exact moment Sam decides to move out
