"Never again shall you thirst, for I am come to wet your mouth with wine and water, to quench your thirst with kisses. Words of Love from my own lips will serve as your oasis, and you shall never want for drink again."
@mishacollins 6/26/21 - I’ve missed you. Come soak up the summer with me! PS: I set up the tripod and the neighbor dog just jumped in the tub. Jump in with us GISH.com (x)
misha’s tweet reads something like “remember that serial killer movie i starred in? the canadian government committed genocide.”
he has no place to be bringing up a movie role that he was paid for in the context of a genocide that is ongoing. he has no place to be flashing this still-living serial killer’s name around for publicity as if the families of his victims are not still suffering. he could have condemned genocide without involving the serial killer or himself or the movie. it wasn’t a comparison that needed to be made. all it did was center irrelevant white men, and now there are people in his comments talking about the movie instead of north america’s systemic murder of indigenous people and culture.
jokes like this contribute to desensitizing non-natives to massacres while indigenous individuals and communities struggle to be seen and taken seriously in every aspect of existence. AS several indigenous people said in his comments and quote tweets, there are far better ways he could have spread this information, such as promoting indigenous voices and sharing resources. frankly it IS maddening and disappointing that the guy who very seriously wished donald trump well with covid is incapable of talking about systemic racism and mass murder without making jokes or bringing up his own career.
