Oooh! Very very good question :) (Again, public answer because SPREAD THE KNOWLEDGE)
Talking to your team really depends on you and the people you’re gonna be working with. It’s like a school project in that sense. You’re given everybody’s email, so what my team did was make a group on Facebook and send emails to make sure we all joined :)
It’s random people from all over, and you organize yourselves as you see fit. if you want a Team Leader, you can definitely have one, but personally, I don’t see the point. What my team did (it was a canadian/american team) was make a google doc with every Gish and you wrote down your name next to each Gish you wanted to do. When completed, you highlighted it. You submit your pictures/videos of the Gishes you completed to the Gishwhes site, so I don’t think I team leader is necessary. But if you want to elect someone, go for it! Again, my team had the google doc, and then when we’d complete something, we’d post it on the facebook group just to share and chat and stuff. It was really fun!
The list of items is pretty hilarious in and of itself! If I remember correctly, last year one Gish was to make ‘toast underwear’, and another was to make up a dessert, get dressed as that dessert, and take a picture of yourself in a place where you’d typically be able to find that dessert. All in all, Gishwes is totally not lacking for weirdness and humour… and goodness. Some of the Gishes are really touching and sweet :)
